Visakhapatnam: ‘Sobha Yatra’ marks Vivekananda’s birth anniversary

Representatives of Ramakrishna Mission Ashram took out a ‘Sobha Yatra’ on the occasion of 156th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. This day is observed as National Youth Day. School children, members of the ISKCON temple participated in the yatra. A number of programmes were organised by different socio-cultural organisations. Swami Vivekananda, born as Narendra Nath Datta, was a key figure in the introduction of Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the western world. He was also credited with raising interfaith awareness and bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion in the late 19th century.
